Tashkent Islamic University was founded by a decree from the President on April 7, 1999. It is one of the most prestigious universities of Uzbekistan, carrying out its activities under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan. The aim of the University is to bring to future generations the rich and unique cultural and spiritual heritage of the Islamic religion, and to prepare qualified specialists - bachelors and masters, in a wide variety of fields. Students are required to master the basics of religion, research principles, the history and philosophy of Islam, and issues relating to its role in the life and development of society.
The units of TIU include: 3 faculties, 10 departments, 6 areas of undergraduate and 4 graduate specialties. The university has more than 500 students in undergraduate and graduate programs, and about 10 doctoral candidates. The Faculties and Research Center employs 125 teachers, among them 13 professors and 47 associate professors. Publishing and Printing Association "Toshkent Islom University" was established in 1999 according to the decision of the Academic Council. It operates in the field of publications of scientific and theoretical research, the presentation of scientific ideas, and works of the great thinkers of our people, and unique historical sources.
Studio "Ziyo" was established in June 2000 with the Development Fund of the Tashkent Islamic University. The main task of the studio - preparation and broadcast of the 1st television channel Uzbek scientific and popular feature films and programs to the general public, based on national and religious values.
Preparation and training courses at the university began in 2001 in the economic, social and humanitarian areas.
The Academic Lyceum focusses on the potential of youth who wish to continue their studies in higher education institutions.
A total of 16 innovative partnership groups, for example: Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers, "O`ZARXIV" agency Studies, Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences, and the "Museum of Memory of Victims of the War".
