Los 40 (stylized as LOS40 and formerly Los 40 Principales) is a Chilean radio station located in the 101.7 MHz FM dial in Santiago de Chile. It also transmits for the whole country with its network of repeaters, in the channel 652 (with D-Box) of the cable operator VTR and for the world, via internet and through the official application denominated "Los 40", currently available, practically, For all mobile device operating systems. The radio has a theme dedicated to current music in Spanish and English.

Previously it was tuned to 92.5 MHz before its fusion with FM Hit, and prior to this it began its transmissions originally in the 95.3 MHz replacing to Caracol Radio Chile before it was changed of frequency to 97.1 MHz, and in the whole country replacing to Radio Classica, in the year 2000.

It has an extensive network of repeaters throughout the country and is present in other countries such as Spain, the original country of the broadcaster and in several countries in Latin America.

The radio is born in 2000 like part of the stage of internationalization of the mark in Spanish-American countries from the Spanish original of the same name. In this first stage the radio was operated by the Consorcio Radial de Chile.

The station, directed to an audience between men and women of 15 to 24 years of the socioeconomic classes ABC1, C2 and C3, combines youth musical successes of the moment together with spaces of entertainment throughout its programming.

The day February 8, 2008, 40 main ends its transmissions and it fuses with the first radio station youth in tune in Chile FM Hit (product of the purchase of the ex Ibero Americana Radio Chile by Grupo PRISA Spain), giving origin to the provisional project Hit 40 that operated the signal that belonged to FM Hit and the signal of Los 40 Principales (in Santiago) was replaced by Radio Activa.

In March 9, 2009 returns "Los 40 Principales" as the final stage of the radial merger, thus disappears Hit 40 and finally FM Hit dies.

At the moment, the director of the radio is Pablo Stange (the same one that was director of the same radio before the fusion with FM Hit). The radio belongs to the holding Ibero American Radio Chile, and its studies are located in Eliodoro Yáñez 1783, Providencia, Santiago. The radio at the moment emits music of sorts like bachata, reggaeton and electronic, combined with independent music.
