Aras de los Olmos (until September 2001 Aras de Alpuente) is a municipality of Valencia, Spain. Belonging to the province of Valencia, in the region of Los Serranos.
Located northwest of the province, between the rivers Turia and bows, its surface is very irregular. Have some in the central plains, but predominantly mountainous, with deep ravines. The heights are: Santa Catalina Muela (1,315 m), Lily Fountain (1398), Tejerías (1181) and Mampedroso (1207). The Turia river crosses from north to south through the western sector. Flows to the river, and the arches, gorges de la Hoz, del Carril, and Regajo Spider.
The town is situated in the midst of a vast plain, northwest of the Sierra del Sabinar, having a length of 75 km². The town can be reached from Valencia, taking the CV-35.
In the municipality of Aras de los Olmos is located 5 km north of the village Losilla.
The municipality of Aras de los Olmos limited to the following locations: to the east Titaguas and Alpuente, to the south with Tuéjar (all in the province of Valencia), to the north by Arcos de las Salinas in the province of Teruel, Aragon, and to the west by Santa Cruz de Moya, in the province of Cuenca, Castilla la Mancha.
The village of Aras was inhabited by Iberians, Romans and Arabs, including the Taifa Kingdom of Alpuente, segregated from the former Caliphate of Cordoba between 1030 and 1092, repopulated by Aragoneses after being reconquered by Jaime I in 1236 and went on real donations to the Order of Montesa in 1318.
Acquired its status as Villa Real and Independent, 11 May 1728, King Philip V granting the Royal Charter of Constitution Village Aras. On July 26, 2001 the Valencian Government approved the renaming of the municipality from Aras de Alpuente be, a town which was historically linked to Aras de los Olmos.
Square Olmo.La fundamental economic base is agriculture, especially dry, which is grown on a fallow grain, alternating wheat with rye, almonds and vines. Irrigation barely meet domestic needs and is located near the city center, take advantage of water sources, using rafts, as well as the ravine of Regajo. Late frost, quite frequently, diminishing the production of grapes and almonds. Livestock is dedicated to local consumption, except the sheep, is concentrated at the periphery of the village closed. Recently, the rabbit is booming. It is worth the Rural Tourism.
