Nescau

Nescau is a chocolate brand by Nestlé which is only available in Brazil. It was launched in 1932 with the name Nescáo. The name is a fusion between Nestlé and "Cacáo", the word for cocoa in Portuguese. In 1954, with the ortographical reforms in Brazil, the name was changed to Nescau to avoid confusion, as people read "Nescáo" as "Nescão". In 1961, the formula was changed. In 1972, the product gained a better solubility and vitamins.

Nespresso

Nespresso is the brand name of Nestlé Nespresso S.A., an operating unit of the Nestlé Group, based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Nespresso machines brew espresso and coffee from coffee capsules, or pods in bar machines, a type of pre-apportioned single-use container of ground coffee beans, sometimes with added flavorings. Nespresso is a premium price coffee, and by 2011 had sales in excess of annual sales of 3 billion Swiss francs.

The company sells its system of machines and capsules worldwide, as well as the VertuoLine system in North America.

In 1976, Eric Favre, an employee of Nestlé, invented, patented and introduced the Nespresso system to the business market in Switzerland, initially without significant success. A decade later, in part due to the efforts of Jean-Paul Gaillard who introduced the «Le Club» community, the product became more successful. In 1990, Nestlé signed a contract with Turmix, which started to sell Nespresso machines in Switzerland. In 1994, actor George Clooney discovered the Nespresso machine at a winter chalet in Chamonix. Clooney loved the concept of a pod-based espresso machine, taking note of the brand and its marketability. George's friend and famed angel investor, Paypal founder Peter Thiel aided George in securing contacts. Thereafter, other contracts were signed with Krups, Magimix, Alessi, Philips, Siemens and De'Longhi.

The first patent application for Nespresso's process of brewing espresso from capsules containing ground coffee was filed in 1996.

Nespresso sells or licenses a number of different machines. The machines carry the brand names of well-known kitchen-equipment manufacturers such as Krups, Magimix, Miele, Siemens, and DeLonghi, but are mostly manufactured by Eugster/Frismag, a Swiss company that is one of the world's largest coffee-machine producers. While based in Amriswil, Switzerland, Eugster/Frismag mostly manufactures in China under the Krups, Turmix, DeLonghi and Magimix brands. Krups and Magimix stores often display models "Made in Switzerland" (noted on the bottom of the machine) but others machines come from China. DeLonghi manufactures the Lattissima models. Eugster/Frismag is strictly an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and does not sell under its own brand. In 2000 Nespresso began distributing machines bearing the "Nespresso" brand. There are numerous models that range in complexity and price, from the entry level Inissia, U and Pixie ranges

It competes with Unilever/PepsiCo's Lipton Iced Tea and Brisk. Nestea provides a variety of tea products, in regular and diet forms, including liquid and powdered tea concentrates, refrigeratable teas, and ready-to-drink bottles dispensed by vendor or vending machine. The beverage comes in several flavors, depending on the country.

In January 2012, it was announced that the joint venture between Coca Cola and Nestlé would be phased out by the end of the year in the United States. Nestlé retained the right to the Nestea brand name, while Coca Cola continues to manufacture the same drink under another brand, Fuze.

Nesquik

imageNesquik

Nesquik is a brand of products made by Nestlé. In 1948, Nestlé launched a mix for chocolate-flavored milk called Nestle Quik. This was released in Europe during the 1950s as Nesquik.

Since 1999, the brand has been known as Nesquik worldwide. Today, the Nesquik name appears on a wide range of products, including breakfast cereals, powdered mixes for flavored milk, syrups, ready to drink products, candy bars, chocolate fondue fountains, hot cocoa mix, and more.

Nesquik began as a chocolate powdered flavoring mix in the United States in 1948, as Nestlé Quik. In the 1950s, it was launched in Europe as Nesquik. In countries with the Quik term (including the USA, Canada, Mexico, and Australia, where it was originally marketed under the name Nestlé's Quik), the name was changed to the worldwide brand Nesquik in 1999. The same year, Cereal Partners introduced Nesquik Cereal, a breakfast cereal that "turns milk into chocolate milk," which is similar to Coco Pops. Nesquik syrup products were introduced in 1981. Ready-to-do products were introduced in 1984.

On November 8, 2012, Nestlé USA issued a voluntary recall of limited quantities of Nesquik Chocolate Powder made and sold in the United States. These that were recalled were of the 10.9, 21.8, and 40.7 ounce tins. This recall only affected the chocolate variety; it did not affect the other varieties of the mix or any other products by Nesquik. This was the first known recall of a Nesquik product.

These tins were taken off the market after Nestlé was informed via a supplier, Omya Inc. that it had issued a recall of certain lots of one of its own products, calcium carbonate for Salmonella contamination.

The affected Nesquik chocolate mix was produced during early October 2012. All affected products have an expiration date of Best Before Oct 2014.

Nestlé issued a statement on the recall stating: We apologize to our consumer and sincerely regret this incident.

On April 1, 2013, the official Facebook page of Nesquik USA posted a photo on their page depicting a broccoli-flavored ready-to-drink flavour of Nesquik. Many believed it to be true and were shocked. However, if one looked closer at the photo, there was a notice in the lower-left corner that it was not an actual Nestlé product. Nesquik USA announced later in the same day that it was an April Fool's joke.
