HokBen

Hoka Hoka Bento (sometimes abbreviated, but now rebranded as Hokben) is a Japanese fast food chain of restaurants based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Their chain of restaurants today spread across Java and Bali. The name Hoka Hoka Bento is derived from Japanese language which means "steaming bento" (Japanese meal in a package).

Established on 18 April 1985 in Kebon Kacang, Jakarta, under PT. Eka Bogainti by Hendra Arifin, Hoka Hoka Bento is the largest Japanese fast food chain in Indonesia. Although they serve Japanese fast food, the entire ownership and cook are Indonesian. There's no Japanese involvement in the business.

In April 2008, the firm had 98 outlets. As of April 2010, there were around 120 outlets, with expansion planned to other Indonesian cities in Central Java, Yogyakarta and Bali. Today, Hoka Hoka Bento has 141 restaurant chains in Java and Bali.

Hoka Hoka Bento serves various Japanese fast food. However, unlike the common ordering and serving method in most fast food restaurants, Hoka Hoka Bento's serving arrangement is set similar to a highschool cafeteria where customers move along the line with a tray to collect their dishes. Their menu comprises both set meals and à la carte dishes. Although they define themselves as a Japanese restaurant, most of the food served have been adapted to suit Indonesians' taste. Examples of the change include stronger flavour compared to authentic Japanese food as well as the addition of sambal to cater to Indonesians' preference for spicy food.

Hoka Hoka Bento offers a kids' meal package called "Kidzu Bento" which includes toys. They are also able to accommodate for children's birthday parties in their restaurants. The logo and toys offered are based on Hoka Hoka Bento characters.

Hoka Hoka bento also offered various bento food package which are the combinations of food offered here.

The mascots of Hoka Hoka Bento are a pair of adolescent characters named Taro (boy) and Hanako (girl). Both characters appear in the restaurant's logo.

Hesburger

imageHesburger

Hesburger (colloquially known in Finland as Hese and in Estonian as Hess) is a fast-food chain based in Turku, Finland. Today, it is the largest hamburger restaurant chain in Finland - with a larger presence in the Finnish market than U.S. company rival, McDonald's.

The company name comes from the nickname of the founder, Heikki "Hese" Salmela.

The chain's history reaches back to 1966, when Heikki Salmela (born 1946) opened a street food kiosk in Naantali. He later opened the first Hesburger in 1980 in Turku, which became the first element of the first fast food restaurant chain in Finland. In the 1980s the chain grew fast. Salmela sold the chain and several hotels in 1988 for almost 200 million Finnish markkas. Three years later, during the recession, he bought it back for 25 million.

With only 12 outlets in 1992, Hesburger expanded to over 200 restaurants in 60 towns across Finland over the following decade, absorbing rival chain Carrols in 2002. Hesburger has also expanded to international markets, opening outlets in the Baltic states and Germany. There was a Hesburger in Damascus, Syria for a short period between 2004 and 2006, but it was closed as unprofitable.

Hesburger has 281 restaurants in Finland, 46 in Lithuania, 45 in Latvia, 42 in Estonia, 33 in Russia, three in Germany, three in Ukraine, one in Belarus and one in Bulgaria. Hesburger continues with attempts to penetrate the Middle East markets, via contracts with local companies.

The company's business practices have been noted for employee-centered personnel policies. For example, In-N-Out is one of the few fast food chains in the United States to pay its employees more than state and federally mandated minimum wage guidelines – starting at US$9.25 per hour in California, as of August 2001. Jack in the Box

imageJack in the Box, Inc.

Jack in the Box is an American fast-food restaurant chain founded February 21, 1951, by Robert O. Peterson in San Diego, California, where it is headquartered. The chain has 2,200 locations, primarily serving the West Coast of the United States and selected large urban areas in the eastern portion of the US including Texas. Food items include a variety of hamburger and cheeseburger sandwiches along with selections of internationally themed foods such as tacos and egg rolls. The company also operates the Qdoba Mexican Grill chain.

Robert Oscar Peterson already owned several successful restaurants when he opened Topsy's Drive-In at 6270 El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego in 1941. Several more Topsy's were opened and eventually renamed Oscar's (after Peterson's middle name). By the late 1940s, the Oscar's locations had developed a circus-like décor featuring drawings of a starry-eyed clown. In 1947, Peterson obtained rights for the intercom ordering concept from George Manos who owned one location named Chatter box in Anchorage, Alaska, the first known location to use the intercom concept for drive up windows. In 1951, Peterson converted the El Cajon Boulevard location into Jack in the Box, a hamburger stand focused on drive-through service. While the drive-through concept was not new, Jack in the Box innovated a two-way intercom system, the first major chain to use an intercom and the first to focus on drive-through. The intercom allowed much faster service than a traditional drive-up window; while one customer was being served at the window, a second and even a third customer's order could be taken and prepared. A giant clown projected from the roof, and a smaller clown head sat atop the intercom, where a sign said, "Pull forward, Jack will speak to you." The Jack in the Box restaurant was conceived as a "modern food machine," designed by La Jolla, California master architect Russell Forester. Quick service made the new location very popular, and soon all of Oscar's locations were redesigned with intercoms and rechristened Jack in the Box restaurants.
