Xiamen Metro (Chinese: 厦门地铁; pinyin: xià mén dì tiě), also Xiamen Rail Transit (Chinese: 厦门轨道交通; pinyin: xià mén guǐ dào jiāo tōng), is an underground rapid transit system in Xiamen, Fujian, China currently under construction and scheduled to be operational in 2017.

Planning for a metro system began in the early 2000s but China's elevated Xiamen BRT was only opened in 2008. The initial phase of construction of the metro system was compiled as the Xiamen Urban Rail Transit Construction Plan 2011–2020 on the December 24, 2010 and was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in May 11, 2012. The construction started in November 13, 2013. Xiamen Urban Rail Transit Group founded for construction and operation.

Approved phase of system development includes three lines (1, 2, 3) with 62 stations, 79.04 kilometres (49.11 mi) in length, The construction cost is projected to be 50.37 billion yuan.

Line 1, with 24 stations, 31.5 kilometres (19.6 mi) (30.3 km useful) length, 50 min duration of trip and 20.39 billion yuan cost of construction, will be completed around December 31, 2016. The line will go from South to North. The depot will be situated at the northern end and will be Xiamen Metro's principal depot. The line will go through Northern and Central railway stations and will connect island (with 9 stations) and mainland (with 14 stations) parts of city through dam (with 1 station). Route: Lundu Ferry Terminal, Old Town, Xiamen Railway Station, Jimei New Town, Xiamen North Railway Station.

Line 2 will have 22 stations, 28.94 kilometres (17.98 mi) length and 17.62 billion yuan cost of construction and scheduled to be completed two years after the opening of the system. It will go from East to West mainly through the island part and then through Haicang channel to the mainland and connect the Airport (at Huli District) and the Southern rail station. Route: Wuyuan Bay, Guanyinshan, Jiangtou, Northern bank of Yundang Lake, Haicang New Town.
