Warna 94.2FM is a Malay language contemporary music radio station operated by Mediacorp. The station plays a unique blend of international Malay top 40 music from 1950s and beyond, and provides Islamic General Service for Singapore.
It is one of the nation's oldest stations, having began operating out of Singapore with the independence of Malaya on 31 August 1957 as RTS Radio 2. The branding stuck even as the network the station was in changed names several times until 23 November 1991 where the station gained its current name as Warna (Malay: "Colour").
It is currently Singapore's #1 Malay Radio Station according to the latest Nielsen Radio Survey as of 1 December 2016.
Religious programming geared to the Muslim community is also integrated in the station's schedules. The adhan, or prayer call, is broadcast 5 times a day on the station in comparison to sister station Ria 89.7FM only announcing the prayer times. A recording of the weekly Friday prayer sermon is also relayed on this station every Friday evening at 6:30pm. There was a dedicated programme to Koran readings plus its translations in the Malay language broadcast every Friday night hosted by Ustaz Ahmad Sonhadji in the early 1960s.
This also extends to religious holidays as well. Regular songs in the playlist would be replaced with tracks of the nasyid genre when the Maulidur Rasul holiday is observed. The station also provides live broadcasts of the Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji prayers from the local mosque between 7am to 9am.
