Srednekansky District (Russian: Среднека́нский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the eight in Magadan Oblast, Russia. It is located in the central and northern parts of the oblast and borders with the Sakha Republic in the north and northwest, Bilibinsky District of Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and Severo-Evensky District in the northeast, Omsukchansky District in the east, Khasynsky District in the south, Yagodninsky District in the southwest, and with Susumansky District in the west. The area of the district is 91,800 square kilometers (35,400 sq mi). Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Seymchan. Population: 3,228 (2010 Census); 5,461 (2002 Census);16,594 (1989 Census). The population of Seymchan accounts for 87.3% of the district's total population.
The main industries of the district are gold, silver, tin, cobalt, bismuth, tungsten, lead, zinc, and coal mining. In addition, under the protection of the mountain ranges, the area in the valley of the Kolyma River lends itself for agricultural production.
