Shashaa Tirupati (often misspelled as Tripathi, born December 21, 1987) is a multilingual playback singer, songwriter and voice over artist of Indo-Canadian origin, with family roots in Kashmir, predominantly active in the Bollywood and South Indian music industries. She is the voice behind the recreated version of the A. R. Rahman cult classic, Humma Humma, known as "The Humma Song" in Shraddha Kapoor - Aditya Roy Kapoor starrer "OK Jaanu". The Humma Song happened to be one of the highest viewed and heard tracks of 2016 on YouTube as well as on radio based on All India Radio statistics and rankings.
Besides Hindi and Tamizh, she has lent her voice to popular Telugu, Punjabi, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Konkani, Arabic and English numbers including the recent single "Rasaali" from prominent film maker Gautham Menon's next, "Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada" ('Chakori' in Telugu), which has been sung by Tirupati and Sathyaprakash. First time in Konkani Album Of Goa 'TUNCH MOJEM JIVIT' sung by Johnny Dcunha and Shashaa Tirupati, music video directed by prominent film maker from Goa Milroy Goes.
Her latest song "Phir Bhi Tumko Chahunga" from Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor starrer 'Half Girlfriend' is trending and topping music charts worldwide after the trailer launch early in April 2017. Composed by Mithoon and co-sung by Arijit Singh, the film itself is based on Chetan Bhagat's novel.
Prior to The Humma Song, Shashaa's rendition of "Sarsariya", composed by Academy Award Winner A. R. Rahman in veteran filmmaker, Ashutosh Gowarikar's Directorial film "Mohenjo Daro" starring Hrithik Roshan has been gaining critical acclaim.
She has also sung in the Aishwarya Rai starrer "Sarbjit" . She was noticed by Rahman during Coke Studio Season 3, shortly after which she sang a solo for Rahman, "Vaada Vaada" from the Rajnikanth, Deepika Padukone starrer, 'Kochadaiiyaan'. It is, however, with her second song, "Aye Mr. Minor" from Rahman's musical, 'Kaaviyathalaivan', that she gained sudden recognition in the Tamil music industry.
