Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan is thought to be part of Budreal sub tribe of the Dhund Abbasis. Sardar Mehtab's term was cut short by the military coup of 12 October 1999 and he was arrested from his house in Abbottabad. The first ever case against Pervez Musharraf was filed by his lawyer Mr. Mian Muhibullah Kakakhel Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan in the case of Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Versus National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other high Military hierarchy. The petition was numbered as writ petition No. 1 of 2000. |
Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi (Urdu/Pashto/Hindko: سردار مهتاب احمد خان عباسي) is a Pakistani politician from Abbottabad, who also served as Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan from 2014 to 2016,Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 1997 to 1999, and Federal Minister for Railways in 2008. He is politically affiliated with Pakistan Muslim League (N). He has served as a senator for five years since March 2003, until he won the NA-17 Abbottabad-I seat for the National Assembly of Pakistan in the 2008 general election.
Mehtab Ahmed Khan became the 16th Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 21 February 1997, taking over from Raja Sikander Zaman, and served until 12 October 1999.
During his tenure as Chief Minister, Mehtab Ahmed Khan approved the Chief Minister Development Plan prepared by Prof Subhan Qureshi, which was later updated to Dairy Science Park through two international workshops held at the University of Agriculture, Peshawar, in 2011 and 2013, respectively. The Park has given birth to Peshawar Meat Company, which is to be implemented jointly by the University of Agriculture, Peshawar, the Department of Local Government and Rural Development, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade.
