Hymera is a town in and the principal center of Jackson Township, Sullivan County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 801 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute Metropolitan Statistical Area.
According to the 2010 census, Hymera has a total area of 0.71 square miles (1.84 km2), all land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 801 people, 306 households, and 215 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,128.2 inhabitants per square mile (435.6/km2). There were 364 housing units at an average density of 512.7 per square mile (198.0/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 99.0% White, 0.2% Native American, and 0.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.1% of the population.
There were 306 households of which 36.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.4% were married couples living together, 15.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 29.7% were non-families. 26.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.14.
