Herwijnen is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Lingewaal, and lies about 11 km east of Gorinchem.
Herwijnen was a separate municipality until 1986, when it was merged with Vuren, Asperen, Heukelum and Spijk.
In 2001, the village of Herwijnen had 1494 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.34 km², and contained 550 residences. The statistical area "Herwijnen", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 2470.
