The Second Circuit returned to the Marshall Courthouse after renovations were completed.
The courthouse is 27 stories tall. It is made of granite, marble, and oak. It includes public art from Raymond Kaskey and Maya Lin. The courthouse was designed by the architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox and was built under a design-build contract with developer BPT Properties with core and shell construction by Lehrer McGovern Bovis and interior construction by Structure Tone Inc.
Housing 974,000 square feet (90,000 m2) it is the second largest federal courthouse in the United States (behind Thomas F. Eagleton United States Courthouse), housing 44 courtrooms and providing court support and administrative services to the United States Marshals Service and the Office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
