Halo Top Creamery

imageHalo Top Creamery

Halo Top Creamery is an ice cream company and brand sold in the United States and Australia.

The ice cream brand, which is marketed as containing less sugar, fewer calories and higher levels of protein compared to standard regular ice cream, was founded in 2011 by former lawyer, Justin Woolverton. Woolverton, who had hypoglycemic diet restrictions, began making ice cream in his own kitchen. The company is currently run by Woolverton and Doug Bouton, President and COO. Woolverton met Bouton, another former lawyer, in a Los Angeles lawyers’ basketball league.

Halo Top launched in Los Angeles on June 15, 2012, and is currently sold throughout the United States and Australia. Since 2016, Halo Top has quickly become one of the nation's top selling ice creams, generating a strong market following and devoted fan base, due to its unique marketing approach and brand. The company has aimed to make its ice cream the first ever "lifestyle" ice cream that can be eaten daily without overwhelming a typical caloric intake diet.

In July 2017, due to its growing popularity and wider distribution, Halo Top became the best-selling pint of ice cream at grocery stores in the United States, besting traditional ice cream brands such as Ben & Jerry's and Haagen-Dazs, who had previously held that distinction for years.

Halo Top currently manufactures and markets 17 flavors of ice cream pints. The company initially released 4 original flavors: Vanilla Bean, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Lemon Cake; three flavors released soon after included Birthday Cake, Chocolate Mocha Chip, and Mint Chip. In June 2015, Halo Top rebranded their packaging to showcase their low-calorie and high protein messages, and in October 2016, Halo Top released 10 new flavors. Halo Top's 17 current flavors are:

In August 2017, Halo Top announced their release of 7 new flavors. The 7 new flavor additions are:

Healthy Choice

Healthy Choice is the name of a brand of refrigerated and frozen foods owned by ConAgra Foods. According to ConAgra's official corporate history, it came into being after then-ConAgra CEO Charles "Mike" Harper suffered a heart attack in 1985. Forced to dramatically alter his diet, he came up with the idea of a line of healthier frozen foods.

ConAgra now sells a broad array of dishes through its Healthy Choice brand, including frozen dinners, side dishes, cold cuts and other meats, canned soups, ice cream, bread, pasta sauce, and even popcorn.

In April 2009, ConAgra reintroduced Healthy Choice's line of frozen meals along with new products, including a line of All Natural Entrees. To promote the changes, Healthy Choice spent between $90 million to $100 million on a multimedia campaign that includes advertisements with actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus featured in commercials directed by Christopher Guest. Other rebranding efforts included new packaging designs.

In Canada, Healthy Choice is a brand of ConAgra Brands. In Australia, McCain Foods, a Canadian company, owns the Healthy Choice name.

HB Ice Cream

HB Ice Cream (originally an acronym for both Hughes Brothers and Hazelbrook Farm) is an ice cream brand in Ireland and is part of the Unilever Group's Heartbrand ice cream brand.

It manufactures most of the Heartbrand's ice cream range, as well as some products designed exclusively for the Irish market, including the Hazelbrook Farm range of blocks of ice-cream.

The rest of the company was sold to W. R. Grace and Company and subsequently became part of Unilever in 1973.

In 2005, the HB Ice Cream plant in Rathfarnham was closed with the loss of 180 jobs.

In 2016 its celebrates its 90th birthday and all television adverts since 1961 for HB will return to the television screens again to celebrate from the oldest to the more recent. Same adverts were used for Wall's in England, Miko in France and many other sister brands.

Hershey Creamery Company

imageHershey Creamery Company

Hershey Creamery Company, also known as Hershey's Ice Cream, is a creamery that produces Hershey's brand ice cream, sorbet, sherbet, and frozen yogurt, and other frozen treats such as smoothies and frozen slab style ice cream mixers. Founded by Jacob Hershey and four of his brothers in 1894 (all of whom have no relation to Milton S. Hershey and the chocolate company that he founded, also in 1894), it was taken over by the Holder family in the 1920s. The company was one of the first to offer consumers pre-packaged ice cream pints. In 1998, it modernized its operations to increase efficiency and reduce overhead. With their shared names and cities of origin, Hershey Creamery and Hershey Company have had a tumultuous relationship marked by multiple lawsuits over trademark issues. In the mid-1990s, the companies settled their most recent legal battles out of court, with the creamery agreeing to add a disclaimer to its ice cream products to note that it is not affiliated with The Hershey Company.

The family-owned business has approximately 450 employees and operates 22 distribution centers in 28 states across the Eastern and Northeastern United States. It is a publicly traded company, with its stocks listed only on Pink Sheets as the company offers a limited number of shares to potential shareholders. In 2014, the company posted a profit of $846.9 million and $7.42 billion in revenue.

The Hershey brothers, Jacob, Isaac, John, Paris, and Eli, founded Hershey Creamery Company in 1894, with the company originally operating out of the Hershey family's Lancaster County farmhouse. The ice cream was packed in metal-lined wooden containers that the Hershey brothers designed and built. The containers were loaded into trucks with ice packed around them to keep the ice cream fresh and cold. Salesmen traveled daily routes to deliver product to customers in the county and in surrounding areas.

In the 1920s, the company was merged with the Holder family's Bethlehem-based Meyer Dairy Company, retaining the Hershey name. In 1926, with demand for the ice cream exceeding the capacity of the farmhouse, the newly merged company constructed its first ice cream plant in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. During the Great Depression, the company became the first ice cream maker to offer its products in pre-packaged pints. It began creating new flavors of ice cream which it then sold to other ice cream makers. Following World War II, the company continued to answer the call for greater convenience in consumer foods and expanded its offerings to include single-serve, easy to eat items such as popsicles and ice cream sandwiches. In the 1960s, the Holder family assumed full ownership of the company.
