Wapakoneta (/ˌwɑːpɑːkəˈnɛtə/ WAH-pah-kə-NET-tə) is a city in and the county seat of Auglaize County,Ohio, United States. The population was 9,867 at the 2010 census. It is the principal city of and is included in the Wapakoneta, Ohio Micropolitan S A, which is included in the Lima-Van Wert-Wapakoneta, Ohio CSA. The community is served by the Wapakoneta City School District.
The city is the birthplace of astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first human to set foot on the moon.
Wapakoneta is a sister city to Lengerich, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
