"Walkin' on the Sun" is the debut single by American rock band Smash Mouth, from the album Fush Yu Mang. Released in 1997, it was Smash Mouth's first major single, reaching #1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay singles chart.
It is written in the key of A-flat minor (G-sharp minor).
The main hook is a sample from J.J. Perrey and Gershon Kingsley's "Swan's Splashdown." The lyrics also reference the song "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)."
After being internationally released, the music video was shown before the movie Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie. The song is a playable track in the video game Rock Band 3. The song was also featured in the television film Shredderman Rules (2007).
