The station was assigned the call letters WKXF on September 17, 1986. On August 1, 1990, the station changed its call sign to WXLN; then on Flag Day 1991 to WKXF; again on January 4, 2002 to WTSZ; on January 20, 2012 to WLUE; on February 6, 2013 to WLRS; and on June 3, 2016 to the current WLUE.

On September 26, 2011, the then-WTSZ changed their format to news/talk, branded as "NewsTalk 1570" (simulcasting WNDA 1570 AM New Albany, Indiana).

On May 25, 2015, WLRS changed their format to Spanish, branded as "La Poderosa".
