Viitasaari is a town and municipality of Finland.
It is located in the Central Finland region. The town has a population of 6,654 (31 March 2016) and covers an area of 1,248.48 square kilometres (482.04 sq mi) of which 340.43 km2 (131.44 sq mi) is water. There are all together 230 lakes in Viitasaari. Biggest lakes are Lake Keitele, Lake Kolima and Muuruejärvi. The population density is 5.33 inhabitants per square kilometre (13.8/sq mi).
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
