Porter Township is a civil township of Cass County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,798 at the 2010 census.

Porter Township is located in the southeast corner of Cass County and is bordered to the east by St. Joseph County and to the south by the state of Indiana. The St. Joseph River forms part of the township border, cutting off what would have been the southeast corner of the township.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 54.6 square miles (141.5 km2), of which 51.5 square miles (133.4 km2) is land and 3.1 square miles (8.1 km2), or 5.73%, is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3,794 people, 1,523 households, and 1,134 families residing in the township. The population density was 73.3 per square mile (28.3/km²). There were 2,040 housing units at an average density of 39.4 per square mile (15.2/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.36% White, 0.63% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.21% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.34% of the population.

There were 1,523 households out of which 28.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.0% were married couples living together, 6.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.5% were non-families. 20.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.86.
