Shalmalee Desai (born March 17, 1989), also known as Shalmalee Desai Sachdev, is an Indian television writer and an actress, mostly known for the role of Sojal from Hindi soap opera Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir. She was the winner of UTV Stars' reality show Lux The Chosen One in 2012.
Born and brought up in Mumbai, Desai worked with a Tv channel as a management trainee, after completing M.B.A from Wellinker college in 2011. She was always very passionate about to enter bollywood industry. Desai is a trained Kathak dancer and had learned Kathak dance for 15 years. She is also a golf player.
In the year 2015, she married her Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir co-star and a popular Indian television actor, Avinash Sachdev.
After winning "Lux The Chosen One" reality show in 2012, she became the official face of UTV Stars channel for the year 2013 In 2013, Desai secured her first television role in the soap opera Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir. After completing a screenwriting course at Whistling Woods International Institute, she made her writing debut with popular television drama series Thapki Pyar Ki (2016).
