Sangareddy (former: Sangareddypeta) is the district headquarters of Sangareddy district in the Indian state of Telangana. It was named after the ruler Sanga, who was the son of Rani Shankaramba, ruler of Medak during the period of Nizams.
Civic administration
Sangareddi Municipality was constituted in 1954 and is classified as a first grade municipality with 31 election wards. The jurisdiction of the civic body is spread over an area of 13.69 km2 (5.29 sq mi).
TRS party is presently Ruling the city. Present MLA is Chinta Prabhakar from TRS party.
The city has three large-scale public sector industries in its constituency. These are BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited-One of the MAHARATNA companies of Govt. Of India), BDL (Bharat Dynamics Limited, where one of India's most powerful missile PRITHVI was produced), Ordnance Factory Medak (which manufactures the Sarath tanks for the Indian Army).
The city is categorized into Old Sangareddy and New Sangareddy. Old Sangareddy is well-renowned for its bazaars and old district jail, which has been converted to a jail museum. The roads in the area are quite busy during the festive seasons including Dassera, Diwali, Vinayaka Chaturthi and Ramzan.
SCHOOLS:Sri Sai Krishna High School, anthony,karuna,daffodils,pioners. COLLEGES:nagarjuna junior college,anthony junior college, DEGREE COLLEGEGS:govt tara degree college,wisdom degree college and more 10 degree colleges are there.
I.T.I(INDUSTRIAL.TRAINING.INSTITUTE)is also present.It has about 15 work shops namely turner,machinist composit,mashinist grinder,electrician,wireman,fitter,welder,mechanic diesel,plastic processing operator,radio and television,draughtsman civil,computer.operating and programming assistant,draughtsmen mechanical,stenography and motor mechanic vehicle with AVTS(Advanced.Vocational.Training.System) maintained by training officers,deputy training officers and assistant training officers are working under principal.This ITI department maintained by state government under commissioner /Director which is this department under control DIRECTOR GENERAL EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING NEW DELHI .The A.V.T.S(Advanced.Vocational.Training.System) which is in control U.N.D.P(UNITED. NATION. DEVELOPMENT. PROGRAM). The basic training in I.T.I.S under mechanical engineering work shops,Electrical engineering workshop,Electonic engineering workshop,Automobile engineering workshop and Civil engineering workshop along with draughtsman/civil these I.T.IS now have nearly 30 private I.T.IS under N.C.V.T and government I.T.IS are in sangareddy,medak,siddipet districts .About 8 GOVERNMENT I.T.Is exist in the three districts.A.I.T.T(ALL.INDIA.TRADE. TEST) examinations are conducted by D.G.E.N.T(DIRECTOR.GENERAL.EMPLOYMENT.AND.TRAINING) every year.after the training is completed by a trainee he is sent for apperentship course(all over the national and international companies by indian and international standard organisation.
