Pucca (짜장소녀 뿌까, Jjajang Sonyeo Ppukka), also known currently as Disney's Pucca, is a Canadian/South Korean animated television series based on a series of shorts created by Voozclub Character Workgroup. The series revolves around 11-year-old Pucca, a young girl who is in love and obsessed with a 12-year-old ninja named Garu. It also has aired on Champ TV and MBC in Korea. Internationally, the series has aired on Toon Disney's/Jetix block in the United States, Europe, and other locales on the Jetix channel.
Pucca premiered in 2006, with a set of 26 episodes (78 segments). The second season of the show, consisting of 13 episodes (39 segments), began airing in 2008 after it was ordered to be created by Jetix Europe. In total, not including the previous online aired episodes of the show, this brought the number of created episodes to 117.
The series centers around the adventures of an 11-year-old girl named Pucca, who lives in a town called Sooga Village. Her love interest is a 12-year-old ninja named Garu, who owns a cat. Her uncles work in the local restaurant called the Goh-Rong, whose main dish is Jajangmyeon noodles. Then, there's her best friend Ching, who is the same age and is in love with a boy named Abyo, who likes Kung-Fu a lot and is interested to girls.
The series started in 2006 and finished in 2008.
In the United States, the series is distributed by Buena Vista Television International. In South Korea, the series is distributed by MBC Films.
A musical show for the series was held in Lima on 8 October 2009. This location was chosen because of Pucca being "one of the most beloved programs on Jetix's Latin American channel." The show repeated itself eight times from the 8 October through 11 October.
