Paula Barrett


Paula Barrett is a scholar and researcher in the field of child psychology. She has been published widely in the area of prevention and treatment of anxiety and depression and the promotion of resilience through the evidence-based FRIENDS programs.

She Is the Founding Director of Pathways Health and Research Centre in Brisbane and currently holds Adjunct Professorship at Australia National University (School of Psychology),University of Queensland (School of Education), and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (School of Psychology). She has been recognised as being amongst the top 1 percent of publishers within the field of Psychology and Psychiatry at an international level.

Paula Barrett was born in Angola, Africa and spent a good part of her early life moving around in Mozambique, Macao and other places. In 1986 Paula's family migrated to Australia from Portugal. This international background has been recognised by various bodies in Australia.

She has also developed the FOCUS program for working with children with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, which has demonstrated efficacy for up to 7 years follow-up.
