Mongolian diaspora refers to people of Mongolian descent who live outside Mongolia. According to the Mongolian Census of 2010, 107,140 Mongolian nationals were reported to be living abroad for more than six months. As of 2009, South Korea had the largest population of Mongolian citizens abroad.China has 5.8 million ethnic Mongolians, who mainly reside in the province of Inner Mongolia. During the Mongol invasions and conquests, many people permanently settled in areas conquered by Mongol armies.
The 2010 Mongolian National Census provided the following statistics for Mongolian citizens living abroad for 6 months or more. With 107,140 citizens living abroad, this represents 3.8% of the total population living abroad officially for 6 months or more.
