Jafrabad is a city and a municipality in Amreli District in the Indian state of Gujarat.
As of 2011[update] India census, Jafrabad had a population of 27,167 of which 13,737 were males and 13,430 were females. Jafrabad has an average literacy rate of 67.10%, lower than the state average of 78.03%: male literacy is 77.42% and female literacy is 56.58%. In Jafrabad, 12.42% of the population is under six years of age.
During the British Raj era, Jafarabad State was a princely state governed by a dynasty of Siddis. It was united with Janjira State by treaty since 1759.
There is a 1,100-year-old Sukhnath temple here located in Bawaseri near the Brahma Samaj Vadi. There is 1200-year-old Varahavarup Temple located in Varahsvarup, 7 km from Jafrabad.
Sarkeshwar beach in Vadhara village is situated on the south-western part of Jafrabad town at a distance of approximately 10 km. It is situated near the southern tip of Saurashtra region, near Amreli-Junagadh border. This region is close to the border of Indian Union territory, Diu. This Beach is a virgin beach made up of golden sand. This is a calm beach with rich quality of sand. The color of water is turquoise. The water in this beach is shallow for some distance inside the sea with very mild currents which is very conductive for water related sports activities. The beach gives a very attractive backdrop of the beautiful sea. Sarkeshwar Mahadev temple is located close to the beach. The nearest railway station to the beach is at Delwada which is approximately 45 km from this beach. Sarkeshwar beach can be included in the list of tourist destinations both Saurashtra and also in Union Territory Diu.
Jafrabad is a coastal town. Majority of population rely on fishing. Some people work in salt pans located on the coast.
Naramada Cement Works (a subsidiary of UltraTech Cement) is located nearby which provides employment to local population.
