Ispat International N.V. was a steel producing company with operations in Mexico, Trinidad, Canada, Germany and the United States. The company is specialized in the integrated mini-mill process and has a wide range of flat & long steel products, including slabs & wire rods.
It was formed in 1978 as the international arm of Ispat Industries in Surabaya, Indonesia by Lakshmi Mittal, but became a separate company in 1995, and one of the largest steel companies in the world. In 2004 it merged with LNM Group (another major steel company owned by Lakshmi Mittal) and International Steel Group (one of the largest steel companies in North America) to form Mittal Steel Company. Today it is part of ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel company.
