Graphic Era University, formerly Graphic Era Institute of Technology, is a deemed university located in Clement Town, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. The university was founded as 'Graphic Era Institute of Technology' in 1993 and in 2008 it has accorded with the status of Deemed University.
Graphic Era Institute of Technology was founded in 1993 and started with undergraduate programs in core engineering and allied sciences. Soon after the establishment. In 2008 the Institute was accorded the status of Deemed University under Section 3 of the UGC Act,1956 vide Notification F.9-48/2007-U.3(A) dated August 14, 2008, and approved by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. In 2015 Graphic Era University was accredited by NAAC with grade ‘A’. NAAC(National Assessment and Accreditation Council) is an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country for upholding the quality of higher education.
Graphic Era University was established by Prof.(Dr) Kamal Ghanshala, in 1993. He is an engineer, entrepreneur and a philanthropist and possesses excellent academic credentials with Bachelor’s and Master's degree in Computer Science & Engineering and Doctoral degree in Computer Science from Kumaun University, Nainital. Prof Ghanshala is a proactive chancellor and a teacher par excellence. He is inarguably, one of the leading experts in the teaching of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and ‘C’ languages. His plethora of knowledge is not just confined to the four walls of the university but also reflected in many research papers he has written and for which he been felicitated, at national and international levels, such as in Croatia, Denmark, Johannesburg, Turkey, London, Paris, Germany, and Thailand. He has received widespread recognition for his leadership qualities and management acumen. He is a past recipient of the Uttarakhand Ratna Award, the International Millennium Goldstar award and the lifetime achievement award from Indian Economic Development and Research Association, New Delhi.
