Discovery Kids Latin America is a cable television channel owned by Discovery Communications and headquartered in Miami, Florida, which started as a programming block on the Latin American version of Discovery Channel. It is the only Discovery channel to feature its own mascots.
The channel is divided into five feeds: Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and the rest of Latin America.
The channel was launched on November 1, 1996. Programming was aimed for older children and teens, including Ghostwriter, Popular Mechanics for Kids, and Cyberkids.
In 2002, preschool programming was added for preschoolers. Programming for young children aired round-the-clock on weekdays, while series for teens aired only on weekends.
On January 6, 2003, the channel changed its programming to target mainly pre-schoolers and dropping all teen series completely, airing programs for young children round-the-clock seven days a week.
On March 8, 2005, the channel introduced Doki, a dog who would become the official mascot of the channel. In 2008, Doki was accompanied by Mundi, a female anthropomorphic ladybug who serves as his best friend; the channel had previously introduced characters who are Doki's friends, including Gabi, Otto, Fico, and Anabella.
On March 30, 2009, the channel radically changed its logo, and adopted new programming, bumpers and schedules. Another image renovation was adopted on April 15, 2013. This coincided with the premiere of the new series Doki: The Series. New bumpers and schedule changes was part of this rebranding. However, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures was added by October 2015.
On April 1, 2016, Discovery Kids got a new logo for celebrate of channel's 20th anniversary.
