Dan Savoie (born 1968 in Scarborough, Ontario) is a Canadian music journalist, award-winning marketing professional, photographer and actor. He is best known for his work with the website and magazine Rockstar Weekly.
Savoie first came to the attention of music fans with his self-published fan club and fanzine KISS Emergency Task Force throughout the band's non-makeup era, which was created while he was still in high school. The club and its magazine was mentioned in the liner notes of the KISS (band) album Hot In The Shade. Savoie's KISS fan club story has been featured in the 2009 Phoenix Books hardcover publication Kiss Army Worldwide: The Ultimate Fanzine Phenomenon 1976–2009. His work has also appeared in Rock Scene in the 1980s. He has interviewed some of the top entertainers in rock music, including KISS, Metallica, Aerosmith, Poison, Mötley Crüe, Hedley and Disturbed.
Savoie has been on the air as a disc jockey at CJPT-FM when it was known as XL103.7FM and CHET-FM where he also served as the station's second general manager. He was on the air for several years at different stations across the country. He has also worked at the Global Television Network affiliate in Regina, Saskatchewan as an audio producer and video operator. For several years until the beginning of 2015, Savoie was the host and producer of the syndicated Canadian radio program RockStar Weekly, which featured weekly interviews with notable celebrities. The show stopped broadcasting in mid-2015.
In 2009, Savoie, in partnership with his wife, April Savoie, launched Rockstar Weekly, a Canadian rock music website, which intended to become an online version of a heavy metal radio show. The website was eventually turned into a pop culture, rock and roll magazine (while maintaining coverage of heavy metal bands) and published a special edition magazine for fans of the popular American Idol Season 8 contestant Adam Lambert. The magazine, which featured articles about the fans rather than Lambert himself, sold out quickly and RSW reported that $1 from each issue would be donated in memory of Lambert fan Terri Sanvicente, who was murdered in her house at Christmas 2009. The website closed in early 2014 and now posts the message "RockStar Weekly is now closed. Thank you for five amazing years of rock and roll."
