Chabanais (Occitan: Chabanès) is a commune in the Charente department in southwestern France.
The Vienne River passes through Chabanais. The village is located in the Rochechouart crater, an ancient asteroid impact crater that eroded away and is not visible anymore.
Chabanais was struck by an F2 tornado on 5 May 1997.
