Cachaço is a settlement in the northwestern part of the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde. It is situated 5 km west of Ribeira Brava and the area has the source of Ribeira Brava which empties northeast of the island capital. The village is connected with the island's main road connecting Tarrafal de São Nicolau and Ribeira Brava (EN1-SN01) via Carvoeiros. Nearby places includes Fajã de São Nicolau in the northeast, Talho to the east, Cabeçalinho in the south, Palhal to the southwest and Covoada to the northwest.
The southern part forms a part of the Monte Gordo Natural Park, the mountain summit is to the west and is part of the Central mountain range of Ilha de São Nicolau Important Bird Area. In the western part, plant species found on the mountain slopes include Euphorbia tuckeyana, Limonium jovibarba and the endangered Nauplius smithii.
It is the place where panoramic views are offered including Ribeira Brava and the town, parts of the northern part of the west of the island and the island's eastcentral part
