Ribeira Brava is a concelho (municipality) of Cape Verde. Situated in the eastern part of the island of São Nicolau, it covers 65% of the island area, and is home to 59% of its population. Its seat is the town Ribeira Brava. Its president is Américo Sabino Soares Nascimento who is of the PAICV, the first and only president first elected in 2008.
Its municipal seal features a mountains, the stream Ribeira Brava, its tree and a nearby hill, the color of the sky is light blue.
The municipality consists of two freguesias (civil parishes):
It was created in 2005, when the older Municipality of São Nicolau was split in two, the southwestern part becoming the Municipality of Tarrafal de São Nicolau and the northeastern part becoming the Municipality of Ribeira Brava.
Since its creation, the PAICV is the ruling party of the municipality which won 49.3% in the last election. Before 2008, the Installation Council ruled Ribeira Brava.
