Basirhat I is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Basirhat subdivision of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Basirhat police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Basirhat. It is located 48 km from Barasat, the district headquarters.

Basirhat is located at 22°40′N 88°53′E / 22.66°N 88.89°E / 22.66; 88.89.

Basirhat I CD Block is bounded by Baduria CD Block in the north, Satkhira Sadar Upazila and Debhata Upazila in Satkhira District of Bangladesh in the east, Hasnabad, Minakhan and Haroa CD Blocks in the south and Basirhat II CD Block in the west. While Basirhat municipality is in the north-west, Taki municipality is in the south-east.
