Asterophysus batrachus, the Gulper Catfish or Torpedo Catfish, is a species of catfish (order Siluriformes) of the family Auchenipteridae. It is the only species of the genus Asterophysus. This species originates from the Orinoco and Rio Negro basins of Venezuela and Brazil. It grows to a length of about 25.0 centimetres (9.84 in) SL.
