Alexandra Maquet (born 27 September 1988), known professionally as Alma, is a French singer and songwriter. She will represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, with the song "Requiem".
Born Alexandra Maquet, Alma grew up in Lille with three younger sisters. As a child, her family also spent time in the United States, Italy, and Brazil. After graduating with a degree in economics, Alma moved to Milan for a year, before moving to Paris to pursue a career in music. In Paris, Alma was introduced to songwriter Nazim Khaled and signed with Warner Music France. In June 2016, she released her debut single "La chute est lente".
On 9 February 2017, Alma was announced as the French representative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, with the song "Requiem", penned by Khaled. As France is a member of the "Big Five", she will automatically advance to the final, held on 13 May 2017 in Kiev, Ukraine.
