Bremner Wafer

Bremner Wafers are made by the Bremner Biscuit Company. The company claims that the crackers "have a neutral taste" and that they are "perfect for pairing with fine wine or savoring with cheese and pâté or seafood, soups and salads". It is because of this "neutral" taste that many wineries and food aficionados around the world prefer using the Bremner wafer as a wine tasting cracker. This neutral taste, however is seen as a drawback by some because it means the crackers are nearly tasteless when eaten alone.

As of February 5, 2006, there are 8 variations of the original Bremner Wafer:

Cheddars

Cheddars are a brand of baked Cheddar cheese-flavoured British-style savoury cheese based biscuit , having a granular crumbly texture unlike crackers which are harder, more brittle and flaky in texture. They are manufactured by McVitie's as an alternative to other snack foods such as biscuits. They were originally manufactured and sold by Crawfords. Until 2014, Cheddars were marketed under the McVitie's brand, but are now marketed under the Jacob's brand.

Mini Cheddars were the result of product diversification by McVitie's as sales of their originals began to wane. They first launched in 1984-1985, and soon new flavours were introduced. Flavours include (as of summer 2006): Marmite, BBQ Beef, Branston Pickle, Cheese & Onion, Ham & Cheese and Mature Cheddar. A new range of crispier crinkled Mini Cheddars called Crinklys has been launched, with flavours such as Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar, Prawn Cocktail and Sweet Chilli.

Cheese Nips

imageCheese Nips

Cheese Nips are small cheese-flavored crackers manufactured by Mondelēz International under its brand, Nabisco. They are similar to Kellogg's Cheez-Its.

Cheese Nips are made in Cheddar, Reduced-Fat Cheddar, and Four Cheese (Cheddar, Parmesan, Romano, Mozzarella) flavors. They were once made in extra cheddar flavors. The Four Cheese flavor contains half a gram of trans fat per serving. Kraft uses cheese of its own production to make these crackers.

Cheese Nips are also known for selling versions of their product that are shaped like cartoon characters, including Avengers, Despicable Me, Angry Birds, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Catdog.

Portion-controlled packages of Cheese Nips are also sold under the name Cheese Nips Thin Crisps 100 Calorie Packs (Thinsations in Canada), to appeal to the health-conscious market. Similar to the discontinued Cheese Nips Air Crisps, these Nips are slightly smaller and thinner than regular Nips but are also hexagonal in shape.

Nips also appear along with other varieties of snacks in mix called Nabisco Cheddars, Yo Cheese, and Bits 'n' Bites.

Cheese Nips (originally stylized as "Cheese-Nips") were introduced in 1955 and positioned in the 1980s as a competitor of Sunshine Cheez-It. By 1999, the box was given more of a contemporary look, with the slogan "100% Real Cheese Taste Explosion". Since the Kraft/Philip Morris merger of Nabisco in 2000, Kraft Cheese Nips and all other Nabisco cheese-related products are made with Kraft Cheese. Crackers shaped as characters from the Nickelodeon show CatDog were produced to further market the snack.

Kraft uses cross-promotions with other products and events to sell Cheese Nips. In 2003, it sponsored a NASCAR Chevy driven by Steve Park. In return for financial sponsorship, Kraft was allowed to place its logo for Cheese Nips (as well as Fig Newtons) prominently on the back of the car, where it was likely to be seen by spectators of races. The car was then sold as a toy, in miniature form, as a collector's item.

Club Crackers

Club Crackers are a brand of crackers made by the American Keebler Company. Crown Pilot Crackers

imageCrown Pilot Crackers

Crown Pilot was a brand of cracker popular in much of New England in the United States. It was manufactured by Nabisco (a subsidiary of Kraft Foods as of 2000) until it was discontinued in the first quarter of 2008. The cracker was unsalted, and closely related to the food "hardtack". The crackers were an important ingredient in historical recipes of clam chowder and a staple in many New England pantries.

The Crown Pilot cracker is Nabisco's oldest recipe, which was acquired with their purchase of a bakery in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Prior to this, the recipe was created by John Pearson of Newburyport in 1792 for producing seagoing biscuits.

The cracker was discontinued once before in 1996 by Nabisco. This sparked the publicized protests of Donna Damon on Chebeague Island and Maine humorist Tim Sample, which eventually led to an episode of CBS News Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood covering the events. Shortly after this, the company resumed production in 1997 after complaints.

Production of Crown Pilot crackers was ended again by Kraft in 2008, reportedly due to drops in the sales of the product since the 1990s. According to the Kraft spokeswoman, Laurie Guzzinati, demand for the crackers was half of what it was 12 years earlier, with about 241,000 pounds sold in 1996.

The crackers are an important ingredient in many New England recipes for seafood stuffings, chowders, and soups as well as in many recipes of the Canadian Maritimes and Newfoundland and Labrador including fish and brewis.

Goldfish (cracker)

imageGoldfish

Goldfish are fish-shaped crackers manufactured by Pepperidge Farm, a division of the Campbell Soup Company. The crackers have been available in several varieties and, since 1997, 40% of the crackers contain a small imprint of an eye and a smile. The brand's current marketing and product packaging incorporate this feature of the product: "The Snack That Smiles Back! Goldfish!", the slogan being reinforced by Finn, the mascot with sunglasses. The product is marketed as a "baked snack cracker" on the label with various flavors and varieties.

Originally invented by Oscar J. Kambly at Swiss biscuit manufacturer Kambly in 1958, Goldfish snacks were introduced to the United States in 1962 by Pepperidge Farm founder Margaret Rudkin.Young & Rubicam handled advertising Goldfish from 1998 until 2004 when Campbells brought in BrightHouse Live to handle the account.

Goldfish come in many varieties. (see below for Flavor Blasted varieties): (there are 39 different flavors)

Rainbow, fudge brownie, Mix ups (pretzel and cheddar X-Treme), Puffs (cheddar bacon, mega cheese, salsa con queso, buffalo wing, twisted grilled cheese, sizzlin' hot wings, BBQ), Cheeseburger, X-Treme zingy chile lime, X-treme screamin' hot

These different-shaped Goldfish are all Cheddar flavored:

(There are also different Goldfish mixtures; which are two flavors combined.)

Goldfish are exported and sold in countries around the world. In the UK, they are sold under the name "Finz", but the product is identical.

Pepperidge Farm has created several spin-off products including Goldfish Sandwich Crackers, Flavor-Blasted Goldfish, Goldfish bread, multi-colored Goldfish (known as Goldfish-American), and Baby Goldfish (which are smaller than normal). There are also seasonably available color-changing Goldfish, colored Goldfish (come in a variety pack). There was reportedly once a line of Goldfish cookies in vanilla and chocolate; chocolate has reappeared in the "100 calorie" packs.

Goldfish noodles also can be found in Campbell's chicken noodle, tomato, and meatball soup. The Goldfish shaped noodles in the tomato soup have been discontinued.

In 1999, Campbell Soup Co.'s Pepperidge Farm won a court case involving Nabisco's cracker that resembled Goldfish. The court ordered Nabisco to refrain from using the goldfish shape and to recall all their products that included the fish shape.
