Food museum

A food museum tells the story of what sustains humankind. Such museums may be specifically focused on one plant, as is the Saffron Museum in Boynes, France. They may explore a food made from a plant, for example, The Bread Museum in Ulm, Germany; a product such as the National Mustard Museum in Wisconsin; the art of food displayed at California's Copia; or historic farms, for example, Iowa's Living History Farms.

In some cases, food museums focus on how and what the world eats. Agropolis in Montpellier, France does this, as does Nestle Foundation's Alimentarium, in Vevey, Switzerland. Japan's Ramen Museum is an innovative food museum in the form of a shopping arcade featuring different noodle restaurants and displays on ramen history.

Food museums are a part of the emerging food heritage movement.

Cookbook Museum

The first Nordic Cookbook Museum is located in MÃ¥ltidens hus,Grythyttan, Sweden. The museum was inaugurated March 17, 2000 and is operated by the Grythyttan School of Hospitality, Culinary Arts & Meal Science. The room where the museum is situated is in a special built Kaba - a black cube. The architect Magnus Silfverhielm, fascinated by Arabic culture, made the Kaba to resemble a "holy" place for people interested in culinary arts, a bit like a "Mecca" for the like minded.

The museum has, through the project of interior design and choice of materials, tried to find connections to Tore Wretman (). He was one of Sweden's biggest cookbook authors and much of his work is on display at the museum. Had it not been for Carl Jan Granqvist his books would today have been spread out around the world. The books were auctioned out in London during 1997, where Carl Jan Granqvist bought the majority for the Swedish Academy of Culinary Arts & Meal Science.

The world´s oldest printed cookbook, "De honesta volupate", is also on display in the museum. The book, originating in the 15th century was written by Bartolommeo Sacchi de Piadena, a biographer and Pope's librarian at the time. There are also books from Cajsa Varg () among others, in the museum.

The museum's collection of books and documents dates back to as early as 1480 AD up until 1980 AD. It comprises about a thousand different works, mainly regarding food and culinary arts, but also beverages and their preparation. Most works can be classified as books, but there are also a number of pamphlets and menus.

The Cookbook museum estimate to have around 1500-2000 books in the museum today (2015-03-03)

Cadbury World

imageCadbury World

Cadbury World is a visitor attraction, featuring a self-guided exhibition tour, created and run by the Cadbury chocolate company.

Two locations exist: Birmingham, United Kingdom; and Dunedin, New Zealand.

Cadbury World was opened on 14 August 1990 by Morgan Anderson on Cadbury's Bournville manufacturing site, and has expanded and developed its content through 'continuous improvement'.

Cadbury World has gone on to become one of Birmingham's largest leisure attractions - welcoming over 500,000 visitors each year, and delivering a respected education programme (linking back directly to the educational advancements and interests of the company's original founding fathers).

Whilst not a factory tour, Cadbury World offers its visitors the opportunity to explore and discover chocolate's history, and to learn about the origins and story of the Cadbury business, which is part of Mondelez, the world's second largest confectionery manufacturer.

Cadbury World currently features 14 zones which tell the story of chocolate and the Cadbury business through various static sets, animatronics, video presentations, multi-sensory cinema, interactive displays and activities, and staff demonstrations.

These zones also include "The Bournville Experience" (Opened in 2007 replacing the Cadbury Collection Museum), which explains the background to the development of the site on which it is located and "4D Chocolate Adventure", constructed in 2014 and replacing "Essence" which in turn replaced "Cadburyland" before it, and which incorporates a 3D cinema.

In July 2003 another Cadbury World was opened in Dunedin, New Zealand. It is located in the Cadbury Factory site at 280 Cumberland St, close to the city centre near the Octagon. This is one of the largest factories in Dunedin that also offers tours and has become very popular with tourists visiting Dunedin. In May 2009 renovations were carried out inside the Cadbury World Visitors' Centre. The attractions which had existed since the opening were taken out, and new areas were added, including an Aztec-themed room and Old England room. Unlike the Cadbury World in Birmingham, it offers guided tours around the manufacturing area of the factory.
