Xinyi (Chinese: 新沂; pinyin: Xīnyí) is a county-level city under the administration of Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, China. It borders the prefecture-level cities of Linyi (Shandong) to the north, Lianyungang to the northeast, and Suqian to the east and south.
During the Second Sino-Japanese War, parts of Shuyang and Donghai were separated to form Tongyang (潼阳) County, as the CPC's decision, likewise the northern Suqian and the eastern Pi County at that time to form Subei (宿北) County. The most regions of both were merged into a new county called Xin'an (新安) in 1949. It was renamed Xinyi (新沂), or New Yi literally, a river flowing through its area, in 1952, because the former was as same as Xin'an, Henan.
Xinyi was converted into a county-level city in 1990.
Xinyi is a railway junction on the Longhai Railway. It is the southern terminus of the Jiaozhou-Xinyi (Jiaoxin) Railway and the northern terminus of the Xinyi-Changxing (Xinchang) Railway.
