Woodmont is a borough of the city of Milford, in New Haven County, Connecticut. The population was 1,488 at the 2010 census. It was created by municipal charter granted by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1903. Woodmont is one of 11 boroughs in Connecticut. The government of the borough works closely with the city of Milford to provide services such as road maintenance, beach maintenance, and police service. There is an extra yearly tax assessment for borough residents, beyond what is owed to the city of Milford.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2), of which 0.3 square miles (0.78 km2) is land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), or 71.43%, is water.
A majority of the borough land mass is safely above sea level. However, it does have a few low elevation areas which are subject to flooding during very heavy storm situations(Hurricanes). As of the census of 2010, there were 1,488 people, 691 households, and 406 families residing in the borough. The population density was 4960 people per(land) square mile (1,915/km²). There were 786 housing units at an average density of 2,620/sq mi (1,011/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.4% White, 1.1% African American, 0.1% Native American, 1.3% Asian, 0.7% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.8% of the population.
