As of the census of 2000, there were 1,125 people, 466 households, and 317 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,820.3 people per square mile (700.6/km²). There were 523 housing units at an average density of 846.2 per square mile (325.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.84% White, 0.36% from other races, and 0.80% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.44% of the population.
