West Bay Shore is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population of the CDP was 4,648 at the time of the 2010 census.

West Bay Shore is located in the Town of Islip.

Sagtikos Manor is one of the oldest structures in the Town of Islip. The original structure, which was later expanded, was built in 1697 by New York City's first native-born mayor, Stephanus Van Cortlandt. The manor functioned for a time, during the American Revolution, as local headquarters for British forces under General Sir Henry Clinton.George Washington used it as a stopover during a 1790 tour of Long Island. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.3 square miles (5.9 km2), of which 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2) is land and 0.08 square miles (0.2 km2), or 4.12%, is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4,775 people, 1,721 households, and 1,366 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,996.9 per square mile (771.4/km2). There were 1,789 housing units at an average density of 748.2/sq mi (289.0/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 94.62% White, 0.94% African American, 0.17% Native American, 2.20% Asian, 0.92% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.08% of the population.
