"Peace Will Come" (2008) ► |
"Visionary Dream" was the Georgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, performed in English by Sopho. This was Georgia's debut at the Contest. The song was originally titled "My Story".
The song is a moderately up-tempo number, with Sopho singing about how much she enjoys life. Her performance featured four male dancers executing a series of spinning and kicking moves behind her.
The video for the song is a celebration of Georgian culture and heritage; it alternates between a monochrome city scene and a colorful open landscape where Sopho sings amid mountains and national monuments. Line-art motifs decorate the screen, and at times modern dancers perform and folkloric dancers form a human tower. In one scene, Sopho lights an oil lamp, and the words of an antique manuscript come into view; in another, Sopho views a modern painting in a gallery and a spinning soldier-dancer appears.
As this was Georgia's Contest debut, Sopho was required to perform in the semi-final. Here, she performed 6th (following Iceland's Eiríkur Hauksson with Valentine Lost and preceding fellow-debutant Montenegro's Stevan Faddy with Ajde Kroči). At the close of voting, the song had received 123 points, placing 8th in a field of 28 and qualifying for the final.
In the final, it was performed eleventh (following Greece's Sarbel with Yassou Maria and preceding Sweden's The Ark with The Worrying Kind). At the close of voting, it had received 97 points, placing 12th in a field of 24.
