Veglie is a town and comune in the Italian province of Lecce in the Apulia region of south-east Italy. Veglie is 20 kilometres (12 mi) west of Lecce and 12 kilometres (7 mi) east of the sea, the Gulf of Taranto.
Veglie was founded around the 10th century. Veglie was a small village.
The tomb founded in Via Novoli in 1957 dates back to the Messapic times it is displayed in a provincial museum. Regarding the name, Francesco Ribezzo think that the origin of the name comes from the pre-Messapic "vel" of the Mediterranean origin meaning "elevation".
Its main industry are agriculture which features olive and wine production and manufacturers. Ice cream is also produced in the village.
