Turtle Lake is a city in McLean County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 581 at the 2010 census. Turtle Lake was founded in 1905.

Turtle Lake is located at 47°31′10″N 100°53′27″W / 47.51944°N 100.89083°W / 47.51944; -100.89083 (47.519378, -100.890857).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.52 square miles (1.35 km2), of which, 0.51 square miles (1.32 km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) is water.

As of the census of 2010, there were 581 people, 278 households, and 159 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,139.2 inhabitants per square mile (439.8/km2). There were 340 housing units at an average density of 666.7 per square mile (257.4/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 95.5% White, 0.3% African American, 2.1% Native American, 0.2% Asian, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.2% of the population.

There were 278 households of which 19.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 42.8% were non-families. 39.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 24.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.02 and the average family size was 2.65.
