Turkey was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, held in Bergen, Norway.

The Turkish national final to select their entry, the 1986 Eurovision Şarkı Yarışması Türkiye Finali, was held on 15 March at the TRT Studios in Ankara, and was hosted by Erkan Yolaç.

Four songs competed in the final. An "expert" jury of sixteen people decided the winner. However, at the end of voting, two of the four songs received eight votes each, causing a deadlock. To break the tie, the head of the jury ended up having his vote counted twice.

After the tiebreaker, the winner was "Halley," performed by the quintet Klips ve Onlar (Sevingül Bahadır, Gür Akad, Emre Tukur, Derya Bozkurt and Seden Kutlubay) and composed by Melih Kibar with lyrics by İlhan İrem.

Both winners of the vote are in bold. The eventual winner emerging from the tiebreaker is in gold, bold and italics.

Klips ve Onlar performed eighth on the night of the contest, following the Netherlands and preceding Spain. Before competing in Bergen, Seden Kutlubay was replaced in the quintet with Candan Erçetin.

At the close of the voting the song had received 53 points, placing 9th in a field of 20 competing countries. It was the highest ranking Turkey had received in the Contest up to that time.
