Trag is a village and Union Council of Mianwali District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It in the Isakhel tehsil. Trag is one of the biggest villages of Tehsil Isa Khel (Tarna, an old name), District Mianwali.
Trag is named after an ancestor or elder, literally meaning an “Iron Helmet”, He was the Great Grandson of Isa Khan Niazi's Paternal uncle Shaado Khan Niazi. He was a combatant in Haibat Khan Niazi's army. Trag came into being in between 1660-1685. It is populated by one of the significant clan Shaado Khel hailing from Niazi Pathan. These people are basically Afghan in origin and adventured Hindustan along with their main tribe i.e. Niazi. Their entry route was Wana-Tank-Dera Ismail Khan-Kundal-Lakki Marwat-Isakhel-to present location of the village.
The family tree of Trag is Trag-Ameer Khan-Jhangir Khan-Shaado Khan-Khar-Zam/Jam Khan-Tora/Tore Khan-Khamim/Habib Khan-Wagan-Jamal Khan-Niazi. He had three sons, Akram Khan, Barkhurdar Khan, and Kher Muhammad Khan. The descendants of Akram are commonly known as Akowaal and while those of Kher Muhammad and Barkhurdar are known by their individual clan, The Descendants of Kher Muhammad were previously known as Kherowal.

The village Trag although being named after a Niazi, occupied mostly by his descendants, still has a lot of tribes who are not descendants of Trag and occupy a considerable portion of this village, these include Arayin (the largest individual cast after the Niazi's of this area), Syed, Qureshi, Kallu, Bucha, Bada, Balochi Khel, Gujree khel, Sonaar, Jhangi Khel (Isakhel), and Porra, Hajam (Bhatti), Marasi (Shaikhe). The Niazi Pathans are the majority of the population in the area.
