Tinteira (Cape Verdean Creole: ALUPEK: Tintera, pre-2004 ALUPEK: Tintéra), is a settlement in the east part of the island of Fogo, Cape Verde and is nearly due east of the country's tallest summit Pico do Fogo, it is also being on the foot of the volcanic mountain of Fogo. It is situated 25 km east of the island capital São Filipe and 3-4 km north of Cova Figueira and is connected with the Fogo Circular Road (EN1-FG01). Its 2010 census population was 410. Its elevation is about 850 to 900 meters. Nearby places include Cova Figueira in the south and Relva in the north, also north is the municipal boundary with Mosteiros.

It has two localities, Tinteira and Cova Matinho. A hollow known as Cova Matinho is in the south and a small beach named Praia Casa is in the southeast.

It is the places where it offers panoramic views of the island of Santiago, there Rincão, a part of Tarrafal and Cidade Velha can partly be seen as it is nearly due west of that city.

As with other parts of Fogo, Agriculture is its main industry. Its climate is cooler than the low-lying areas of the island but s few degrees warmer than the upper parts, being at about 350 meters of elevation, temperatures are slightly different than on Fonte Aleixo and Cova Figueira as being on the eastern slopes of the main mountain.

Aluguer buses rarely connect the village with the capital except for Sundays and holidays, it has no fixed schedule.

Around 73,000 BC or 75,000 years ago, the area was formed as part of the interior of the earlier Fogo Mountain, its landscape before was about 1,000-1,500 meters (3,000-4,500 feet) higher, the eastern half collapsed and with some erosion and lava flow over the centuries, it would form the current landscape.

The town was unaffected from the eruptions of 1951, 1995 and 2014 as it is being on the other side of Chã das Caldeiras.
