Tiachiv (Ukrainian: Тячів) is a city located on the Tisza River in Zakarpattia Oblast (region) in western Ukraine. It is the administrative center of Tiachiv Raion (district). Population: 9,043 (2016 est.).
There are several alternative names used for this city: Rusyn: Тячево, German: Groß-Teutschenau, Hungarian: Técső, Romanian: Teceu Mare, Slovak: Tyachovo, Russian: Тячев.
In the year 1329 the town was mentioned the first time as Thechew (Teutschau), meaning „German meadow“. The town was founded by Bohemian settlers in the 11th century. Until 1919 (as part of Máramaros County) and between 1938-1944 Tiachiv was part of the Kingdom of Hungary.
