Telugu Brahmin are members of the Brahmin community who speak Telugu. According to Aitareya Brahmana of the Rigveda, the Andhras left North India from the banks of the river Yamuna and migrated to South India. They are mentioned at the time of the death of the great Mauryan King Ashoka in 232 BC. They mainly hail from the Indian States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, although several have migrated to the rest of India as well as to countries around the world.
