Tarentola rudis is a species of geckos in the family Phyllodactylidae. The species is endemic to the Cape Verde Islands and are founded in the islands of Sal and the south of Santiago, on that island including Serra da Malagueta.

It is an endemic species.

The species were first collected by Leonardo Fea in the 1980s. Boulenger wrote a report on his studies which was published in 1906 and in the same year named the species Tarentola rudis.

There were subspecies and were tarentola rudis boavistensis (Boa Vista wood gecko), Tarentola rudis protogigas and Tarentola rudis maioensis (Maio wood gecko), they would become classified as separate species by Vasconcelos, Perera, Geniez, Harris & Carranza en 2012. Also the subspecies Tarentola rudis hartogi became subspecies of Tarentola protogigas and as Tarentolas protogigas hartogi.
